Fellows Award Retrospective Exhibition

Program Director and Associate Professor (and AIGA Fellow), Frank Baseman, along with Adjunct Professor (and fellow AIGA Fellow), Joel Katz, participated in the Fellows Award Retrospective Exhibition at the University of the Arts alongside other AIGA Philadelphia Fellows including Hans Allemann, Laurie Churchman, Ken Hiebert, Lanny Sommese and Alina Wheeler. The exhibition was on display through June, 2011 at the University of the Arts, Philadelphia.

Paid Internship Pledge

Associate Professor, Maribeth Kradel-Weitzel, was a mainstage speaker at the AIGA National Leadership Retreat in June 2011. She shared news of the Philadelphia chapter’s efforts to improve the ethical treatment of interns via the AIGA Philadelphia Paid Internship Pledge.

Alumni Profile: Tracey McCaffrey Designs Northern Home for Children Mural

This just in from Tracey McCaffrey (PhilaU GDC, 2011), Junior Designer for Bailey Brand Consulting: “While working at Bailey Brand Consulting, I’ve been able to wear more than just a few hats: intern, freelancer, illustrator, layout-package-web-and-video designer, and one more recently, mural artist. Not many graphic designers get the opportunity to rattle off a list like that.”


PhilaU GDC at AIGA Philadelphia Design Awards

The Graphic Design Communication Program at Philadelphia University was very well represented at the 2011 Philadelphia Design Awards competition and exhibition held by AIGA Philadelphia. Only 100 projects were accepted into this design competition and exhibition, and approximately twenty-two of these award-winning projects were produced by either alumni or faculty of the Graphic Design Communication program at Philadelphia University (almost 22%).
