Warkulwiz: GoPhillyGo Just Flows

Philadelphia has a new website for bike, walking and public transit outings with help from Warkulwiz Design Associates and Azavea. Warkulwiz Design Associates was invited by Clean Air Council to bid an ongoing project that required working with interactive map developers. The charge was to give the project life, a look, a name, and launch the website by the end of June 2015.


Kanbar Selects Project Earns Gold and Silver Awards

The Publication and Website for the Kanbar Selects, volume 1 project earned both a Gold and Silver Award in the 2015 University and College Designers Association’s 45th Annual Design Competition. There were nearly 1,100 entries to this national design competition, and the industry professional judges awarded 165 total awards in a variety of categories. The Kanbar Selects, volume 1 Publication won a Gold Award (one of only seven Gold Awards), while the Website for the same project was awarded a Silver Award (one of only fifteen Silver Awards), as well as an Award of Excellence.


Adobe Design Achievement Awards 2015: The Class of 2015 Keeps on Achieving

Even as the class of 2015 has graduated, the awards that this talented group has achieved continue to come in. The PhilaU Graphic Design program is pleased to report that several Graphic Design Communication graduates have earned the prestigious award of Semifinalist in the 2015 Adobe Design Achievement Awards. These students—now alumni—have continued the rich tradition of having their excellent work recognized in juried, peer-reviewed international and national design competitions and publications. For the fifth year in a row—and sixth out of the last seven recent years—student work from the PhilaU Graphic Design Communication program has been included in the Adobe Design Achievement Awards, the most prestigious student design competition in the world for students working in Graphic Design, Digital/Interactive Design, Animation, Illustration, Package Design, and Photography.


Rising Seniors Win Scholarships

Rising seniors Emma Donofrio-Galley and Kelly Szymanowski are the recipients of the Henry Dunlap Trust Scholarship from the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation for the academic year 2015–2016. Approximately two hundred college students attending 83 schools are receiving financial assistance through PGSF each year. The Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF) received approximately 600 applications for 2015. Scholarship recipients are rated in areas of: knowledge of graphic communication; overall motivation to succeed; academic achievement; leadership qualities; and clearly defined goals for a career in the printing industry. Emma and Kelly both met the criteria and we congratulate them on this wonderful accomplishment! Alum Bruno Forcine (PhilaU GDC, 2015) was the recipient of PGSF Scholarships last year.
