Jeffery Epstein: The Death that Rattled America

Instructor turned finance mogul; Jeffrey William Epstein was one of the most powerful names in America. With political and royal affiliations, Jeffrey Epstein was reported to have made appearances with Prince Andrew to U.S. Presidents.
Before Epstein allegedly committed suicide in August of 2019, he was arguably one of the richest men alive. Elie Honig, who is a former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, states that Epstein had a net worth of “over $500 million with an income of $10 million a year”.
Many critics of Epstein have questioned where his lavish wealth originated from. With apartments on the Upper East Side of New York, Epstein had proven that he was no newbie to the millionaire finance world. However, the question remains: is it all real, or was Jeffery Epstein contrived from the richest and most famous people in the Western Hemisphere; tasked to conceal their corruption and misdeeds?
A testament to the latter stems from the fact that Jeffery Epstein acquired a $77 million-dollar Townhouse in the Upper East side, for free. Business Insider reports that Epstein first appeared there in 1996, although the house was not under his ownership. The first time anyone outside of Epstein’s circle knew that he was living there, was in 2011. One of the richest men in the country was not paying property taxes in one of the most expensive parts of New York City.
The townhouses original owner was Les Wexner, founder and CEO of L Brands. Only nine years later, Wexner sold the property to Nine East 71st Street Corporation (NES) for an “undisclosed amount.”
Epstein’s “business” doings flew under the radar for years. Exploitation, molestation and corruption. All of us have our secrets and Epstein’s biggest secret was the fact that he owned a private island called “Little Saint James” off the coast of St. Thomas, the U.S. Virgin Island. Only this island was used as a sex trafficking revolution that spanned from 2002 until roughly Epstein’s arrest in 2019.
Unfortunately, this was not Jeffery Epstein’s first child predator conviction. According to a USA Today article, Epstein was arrested eleven years ago on a charge of “soliciting minors for prostitution”. Epstein was a veteran sexual predator as he preyed on girls from the ages of thirteen to seventeen years old.
Epstein’s victims were minor girls and his target group revolved around the vulnerable. He used his money to lure them when they went through hardships. Alia E. Dastigar, journalist for USA Today spoke with Brad Edwards, an attorney who represents fourteen of Epstein’s victims. According to Edwards, Epstein preyed on girls, “… who don’t have a parent in the household or a good support system and who need money.”
Epstein was an impotent seeking the power and emotional reassurance he could never receive from a partner. In fact, he had a partner, a right-hand woman: Ghislaine Maxwell, a British socialite and avid acquaintance of Jeffrey Epstein and the Clintons.
Though Maxwell has not been indicted for anything, after Epstein’s sudden and mysterious death, she is reported to be “lawyering up for the Epstein lawsuit” according to an article from Page Six.
Epstein was eventually indicted for his crimes of sex trafficking; however, his fellow famous associates, were let off the hook. Some were put under public scrutiny, while others were merely inspected and then forgotten about.
One example includes President Donald Trump, while he has constantly denied his involvement with Mr. Epstein, he been recorded referring to him as “a terrific guy”. Both men had residence in Palm Beach Florida; the Mar-a-Lago Presidential home and the beach house Epstein sexually molested several underage girls at 358 El Brillo Way. President Trump has had his own bout of sexual misconduct allegations, even stating in an interview for New York Magazine, “It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them on the younger side”.
As the case progressed, Epstein was arrested, and American socialites hoped for the best. As if the Royal Family hasn’t had enough drama and tragedy, word breaks of Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein.
Allegations came from two of Epstein’s former sex slaves, Virginia Roberts Giuffre and Johanna Sjoberg. Reports from a Guardian article revealed that the Prince and Ghislaine Maxwell had contact regarding Roberts Giuffre’s suit filed in Florida in 2015, according to a BBC Panorama investigation. The Prince emailed Maxwell stating: “Let me know when we can talk. Got some specific questions about Virginia Roberts.” Maxwell then replied with: “Have some info. Call me when you have a moment.”
Roberts Giuffre claimed in her 2015 suit filed in Florida that she had “sex with Andy three times.” Though it does not say at what age Virginia Roberts was when she first had intercourse with Prince Andrew, she does state that she was 18 at her final alleged intercourse with the prince.
On July 6th, 2019 Jeffrey Epstein was arrested on federal charges for sex trafficking minors in the states of Florida and New York. On July 23rd, he was found in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in the early hours of the morning. After being put on 24-hour suicide watch Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide on August 10th, 2019. Just a few days ago, the apparent video of Epstein’s first suicide attempt “vanished”.
You may ask yourself, how did Epstein managed to kill himself while being under 24-hour surveillance? The two prison guards responsible for Epstein, Tova Noel and Michael Thomas were both indicted on charges alleging they falsified official records alongside one count of conspiracy. It was revealed that the two guards were “dozing off and surfing the web” at the time of his death. The significance of their lazy actions cannot be understated. Epstein was planning on revealing his affiliates in his sex trafficking world. Those affiliates were expected to be many of the elites in our society. However, now that Epstein is dead, justice will not properly be served and those affiliates will remain unnamed.
So, now the question that is looming over everyone’s head and has puzzled the world is; did Jeffrey Epstein actually kill himself? Despite the phrase manifesting itself jokingly into popular culture, reflecting on the truth and barbarity of Epstein’s actions is becoming increasingly important as our attention spans are getting shorter and shorter. Because, before long, this scandal may very well be covered up by its comedic successor, leaving the loose ends and critical questions to the dark once more.
