In a monumental moment for Philadelphia University’s Rowing Program, the Women’s Varsity Eight was selected as one of two “at large” eights to be invited to the NCAA Championships. With only a total of six teams being invited to the NCAAs, the invitation recognizes the University’s program as among the best six in the country, according to Rowing Head Coach Chris O’Brien.
“Going to race in the national spotlight will be a thrill for these young women, who have only just begun to realize their potential as collegiate rowers,” said O’Brien. “Our invitation is a testament to the hard work and dedication these team members have displayed for the past two years of our program. We hope to honor the name of Philadelphia University while participating in this prestigious competition.” The championship is held in Sacramento, Calif., from May 30 through June 1.
Members of the participating team are:
Magda Dzierzanowksi, coxswain; Maria McDevitt, stroke; Briana Zelinksi; Simone Kettell; Lillian Anderson; Maureen Agnew; Jenna Eishenhour; Lindsey Catov; and Lauren Hendel, bow.
