Philadelphia University Reaches Out with Day of Service on Wed., Oct. 1

The University is planning its first-ever, campus-wide, community service event. The Day of Service is scheduled for Wed., Oct. 1 and will kick-off the Presidential Inauguration Week activities for Dr. Stephen Spinelli Jr.

“A campus-wide Day of Service with faculty, staff, and student involvement is a shining example of the collaborative nature of the University and truly exemplifies the many ways Philadelphia University develops students to become leaders in all aspects of life,” said Dr. Spinelli.

Projects are being requested for particular areas of interest range from community development and environmental clean up to arts, culture, education and literacy.

“Extensive planning is underway for the Day of Service on October 1,” said Mark Govoni, Dean of Students and chair of the Day of Service Committee. “We are currently seeking project proposals from faculty, staff and students and local service agencies.”  

Service projects leaders should complete the Project Proposal Form at www.philau.edu/dayofservice/. The deadline for project proposals is Monday, Sept. 1.

The University will be open on Wed., Oct.1.  Class time will be used to allow all faculty, staff and students to participate in Day of Service activities.
