PhilaU Honors Magee’s Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame Induction

The Philadelphia University community honored Coach Herb Magee for his induction into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame at the first men’s basketball home game Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Coach Magee’s induction is just one of the many milestones and accomplishments of his 49-year career at PhilaU.

In front of packed, enthusiastic crowd, President Spinelli presented Coach Magee with a sign marking his own designated parking space in the Gallagher Center parking garage, a one-of-a-kind gift.

A proclamation from City of Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter was read honoring his successes as a player and coach at PhilaU.

Comcast SportsNet’s Dei Lynam, and daughter of Coach Magee’s high school teammate, commented on this milestone, noting Coach Magee’s name is synonymous with milestones.

To top of the night, the Rams defeated the University of the District of Columbia 78-58.  PhilaU student-athlete Steph Agger, dressed as Coach Herb Magee, won the Herb Fanatic contest.

Congratulations Coach Magee!
