Nine PhilaU Student-Athletes Earn CACC All-Academic Honor; Soccer’s Bauckman Earns Third

The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) recently announced nine Philadelphia University student-athletes received All-Academic honors for the Fall 2008 athletic season.

PhilaU soccer star Christy Bauckman, a senior finance major, is now a three-time All-Academic honoree. Cross country’s Kathleen Marino, a junior fashion merchandizing major, and soccer’s Rebecca Kennedy, a senior international business major, received their second All-Academic honors.

First time honorees include men’s soccer players Ryan Flaherty, a sophomore engineering major, and Marcus Narty, a sophomore physician assistant studies major; women’s volleyball player Katie Miller, a senior engineering major; men’s cross-country runners Aaron Nawrot, a senior architecture major, and Andrew Piotrowski, a junior accounting major; and women’s tennis player Daniela Rodriguez, a sophomore architecture major.

“We are proud of these accomplished student-athletes,” said Tom Shirley, director of athletics. “They are a shining representation of Philadelphia University athletics and have a bright future athletically and in their professions.”

In order to be named to the CACC All-Academic team, recipients must have participated in a CACC Championship sport this past fall. Students must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically; have been a student-athlete at their current school for at least two semesters; and achieve a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.50 or higher through the fall semester.
