The Philadelphia University community will participate in its first Relay For Life, an overnight event which will start 6:30 p.m. on Fri., April 3 and end at 6 a.m. Sat., April 4 in the Gallagher Athletic, Recreation and Center.
To date, the student planning committee has raised nearly $14,000 for the American Cancer Society.
Relay For Life is an American Cancer Society event which works to bring communities together to fight cancer. At this fundraising event, teams of 8 to 15 people take turns walking around a track to remember those lost to cancer and honor cancer survivors.
A Survivor Ceremony starts at 7 p.m., followed by a Luminaria Ceremony at 11 p.m. During the event, there will be awards for the best campsite decoration, costume and team banner.
