Homecoming and Family Day Festivities this Week

On October 2-3 Philadelphia University will welcome alumni, families and friends to celebrate Homecoming and Family Day and to honor the University’s 125th Anniversary.

Kicking off the weekend’s events, the finale of PhilaU’s newest tradition, the Royal Ram Competition, will take place Friday night, Oct. 2 in the Kanbar Campus Center. In this competition, ten seniors will lock horns as they show their school spirit in an attempt to claim the first Royal Ram crown.

The Royal Ram Court competition includes queen candidates Lauren Nelson, a member of the Black Student Union; Misty Denham-Barrett, a member of the Campus Activities Board; Meghan McHugh, a member of the Gemini Theater; Vicki Iulo, a member of the Phi Psi Textile Fraternity; Erin Weisman, a member of the Student Alumni Association; and Brittany Kaplan, a member of Delta Phi Epsilon. The king candidates include Kevin Go, a member of the men’s lacrosse team; Mike Ramsteck, a member of the Campus Activities Board; and Allen Dowhie, a member of the Association of Commuter Students.

On Saturday, Oct. 3, members of the Philadelphia University community are invited to participate in the exciting Homecoming/Family Day tailgate in the parking lot behind the Ravenhill Mansion. PhilaU Ram fans will cheer on the men’s and women’s soccer teams who will take on Bloomfield College. From BBQ picnic fare and Chubby’s cheesesteaks to the Rams’ Kids Tent, this afternoon offers something for everyone.

Other athletic events scheduled for the day will include Women’s Tennis vs. Goldey Beacom College and Volleyball vs. Lincoln University. Be sure to cheer the Rams on to victory.
