Provost Randy Swearer on educating innovative thinkers: The Atlantic

Teaching students to be innovators requires a commitment to a diverse, multidisciplinary and deeply collaborative educational experience, Provost Randy Swearer told The Atlantic Jan. 28.  Noting President Obama’s call to action for strengthening innovation in last week’s State of the Union address, Swearer said, “True innovators are adept at taking very specific areas of knowledge (technologies, scientific discoveries, social phenomena, etc.) and constantly reframing them in broader social, cultural or political contexts.”
