As part of its ongoing commitment to industry immersion, the MBA program at Philadelphia University is hosting its sixth year of the Leadership Lessons program, which brings successful men and women from the business world to campus to share their insights with students.
The lectures are all held informally over lunch. “The idea is to bring in business leaders who can talk to our MBA students about the real world of business,” said Lee Evan Tabbas, executive-in-residence for the School of Business Administration, who helped develop the program. “We want to give students the opportunity to hear about what is not in the textbooks.”
The business leaders are encouraged to speak about what is on their minds, rather than adhere to a traditional lecture, and students are encouraged to come ready to ask questions. The interactive nature helps students learn beyond the traditional classroom setting and gain valuable insights into the decision-making process at the apex of business leadership. “The students like the Leadership Lessons program because they have an opportunity to interact with industry leaders in an intimate setting,” Tabas said. “And our invited speakers are eager to help develop the next generation of leaders at PhilaU.”
The first speaker for the Fall 2011 semester is Marcos Lopez, president and CEO of eXude Benefits group, a provider of employee benefit programs, human resource consulting and retirement planning. Lopez has more than 20 years of experience in the employee benefits industry, garnering a reputation for developing efficient and price- effective benefits plans for small and mid-size employers. Lopez , a graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, founded eXude (then Group Benefits On-line, Inc.) in 1996.
Lopez will speak to students on Thursday, Sept. 15 at 12:15 p.m. in The Tuttleman Center.
