PA student interviewed about vaccine controversy: NBC10

Physycian Assistant Studies student Alisha Neumann responded to Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann’s claims this week that the HPV vaccine against cervical cancer caused mental retardation in a young woman, NBC10 reported Sept. 15 at 4:30 p.m.  Dr. Arthur Caplan, a University of Pennsylvania bioethicist who was speaking at PhilaU, called Bachmann’s statements irresponsible and offered to pay $10,000 to charity if she can prove her claim.  Neumann agreed, saying the candidate’s claims may undermine women’s health because the public may have “a hard time trusting what the doctors have to say.”
