Students, faculty, staff and alumni can mark their calendars for the fifth annual Day of Service, which will take place on Friday, Oct. 19.

The campus-wide Day of Service gives the University community an opportunity to dedicate one day to making a difference in the local community. Volunteers can sign up for a wide-selection of service projects or create their own. Currently available projects support a variety of interests and issues, including youth education and mentorship; hunger and homelessness; community development and restoration; animals and the environment; health and special needs; and senior citizen concerns.

Project registration is now open. Interested volunteers are asked to gather their friends and colleagues and plan to help make Day of Service 2012 a success. Visit to sign up for a project. Students can also create their own service projects by coordinating with the Division of Student Life. Contact Student Development Programs at or 215-951-2634 for more information on creating your own project.

There are several  ways volunteers will be able to participate in Day of Service activities: with a class or academic program, as a club or student organization, with an athletic team or as an individual volunteer. Opportunities exist in each of these areas. Please see the Day of Service website for individual registration or contact your student organization, athletic team or class leaders for more information on how you might get involved.
