Natalie Nixon, associate professor and director of the Strategic Design MBA program, was named one of Philadelphia’s top fashion influencers at the third annual Most Fashionable Women in Philadelphia awards ceremony, which took place Sept. 17 at the Hyatt at the Bellevue in Center City, Philadelphia.

Nixon and 18 other awardees were honored for their style as well as their commitment to community service. Other 2012 awardees included designer Sarah Van Aken, singer and songwriter Lauren Hart and Olympic Gold Medalist rower Susan Francia.

The event, hosted by Mary K. Dougherty, owner of Philadelphia’s Nicole Miller store, is part of The Philadelphia Collection series of fashion events and another sign of the city’s growing influence in the fashion industry.  Proceeds from the event benefitted Philadelphia’s Fashion Incubator at Macy’s, a year-long fellowship program for emerging designers. PhilaU fashion design alumna Kaitlyn Doherty is in the Incubator’s inaugural class of designers.
