Corporate Connections Draws Top Employers to Campus to Recruit PhilaU Students

More than 93 percent of employers at Philadelphia University's Corporate Connections event on Sept. 20 said they would be hiring students for full-time or internship positions.

More than 35 companies were on campus Sept. 20 to recruit students for jobs as part of the annual Corporate Connections event hosted by the Career Services Center.  The firms were hiring for full-time positions and internships.

Students in business, fashion merchandising and management, psychology, engineering, professional communication and law and society attended  the event to network and meet with recruiters from  some of the nation’s top employers, including: Aeropostale, Burlington Coat Factory, Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania, Destination Maternity, Federal Mogul Systems Protection, Kohl’s Department Stores, Maidenform, Marshalls/TJX Companies, MedRisk Inc., Northwestern Mutual, PVH Corporation (Tommy Hilfiger), QVC, Ross Stores, Target, Toys “R” Us, Verizon and Victoria’s Secret.

“The 2012 Corporate Connections was a huge success with a large student turnout and diverse employer participation,” said Megan Haupt, associate director of career services.  “More than 93 percent of the employers who responded to the post-fair survey say they will be hiring students for entry-level jobs and internships.  Many indicated they will be back on campus in February for the Career and Internship Fair.”

Philadelphia University has seen a steady stream of companies interested in recruiting at the annual Corporate Connections event. About the same number of companies participated in this year’s event as did last year, reflecting their interest in PhilaU graduates.

Students and recruiters met in The Kanbar Campus Center to exchange information and schedule follow-up interviews.
