DMM Director Jean Bail On Preparing for Disasters Like Sandy: NBC10

Jean Bail, director of the Disaster Medicine and Management program, advised people to prepare for Sandy-like storms and other disasters by putting computers and smart phones to work digitizing their vital information, NBC10 reported Oct. 29.   Being able to access such things as homeowners’ insurance, social security cards, drivers’ licenses, birth certificates and other important papers that may get lost or damaged in a disaster is critical, Bail said. Also, keep up-to-date photos of children on your cell phone in case you are separated in an emergency and download a first-aid app for self-care if emergency responders can’t get to you quickly.

In addition to this story, Bail was interviewed by NBC10 reporter and PhilaU alumnus Vince Lattanzio for a one-hour special on Hurricane Sandy that aired Oct. 15.
