Women’s Basketball Head Coach Tom Shirley Approaches 650th Career Win


On the road to his 650th career win, which could come as soon as Saturday, Jan. 11 at Bloomsburg University, Coach Tom Shirley earned his 500th victory at Philadelphia University as the Rams defeated Wilmington (Del.) 94-63 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference away game Jan. 8.

Shirley is in his 25th season—33rd overall—as the Rams’ head coach and has a record of 500-233. He has a career record of 649-306. Shirley ranks third in NCAA Division II history in wins.

The PhilaU women’s basketball team emerged victorious in its last five games and is now 8-3 overall. The Rams remain unblemished in CACC play with a 6-0 record.

PhilaU’s next match, a non-conference game at Bloomsburg University, will be broadcast live locally on MyNetworkTV WQMY at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11 and will re-air statewide on The Comcast Network on Friday, Jan. 17 at 9 p.m.
