Philadelphia University’s fashion design program was named one of the top 32 most influential programs internationally by FashionPlaytes, a fashion, style and social destination for tween girls.

The fashion design programs on the list, which was released Jan. 28, “are among the most widely recognized in the industry,” FashionPlaytes said. “Many have produced world-famous fashion designers and alumni who now hold top-level executive positions with major retail chains, fashion houses and fashion media publications.”

GraphicIn addition to PhilaU’s fashion design program, the list of acclaimed programs included those at Parsons The New School for Design, Fashion Institute of Technology, London College of Fashion and Melbourne School of Fashion.

Philadelphia University also was selected as one of the top 50 fashion schools in the world in the 2013 rankings by Fashionista, a leading international web site for fashion news and trends.

PhilaU’s fashion design program prepares students as team-oriented designers through hands-on exposure to all facets of the design world, including technology, production and business. Students showcase their own collections at the University’s annual Fashion Show, providing them with real-world experience before graduation.

Students have landed prestigious internships and started careers in companies including Nannette Lepore, BCBG Maxazria, Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Urban Outfitters and Vogue Magazine. Alumni work as fashion professionals in all areas of the industry.
