Several dozen Philadelphia University architecture and interior design students attended the 2014 American Institute for Architecture Students (AIAS) northeastern regional conference in Boston during spring break, participating in a variety of events and learning experiences related to their fields.
The March 21-23 conference attracted students from more than 20 AIAS chapters. The 27 PhilaU students attended lectures, hands-on workshops and networking events, and visited local architecture and design firms and museums during the conference.
The conference theme, “The Art of Architecture,” encouraged students to celebrate various art techniques and use them in their designs. Students attended various material and rendering workshops during the meeting, including one led by Alex Hogrefe, an associate at Hartness Vision, on how to create realistic 3-D renderings.
Though exhausted from the weekend’s activities, students in PhilaU’s AIAS chapter returned from the conference inspired by new perspectives on design. –By C. Rachel Wolford, B. Arch ’17
