Three Philadelphia University fashion design alumni will debut their summer and pre-fall collections at a pop-up shop in Manayunk from June 25 to 29 presented by the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator at Macy’s Center City.
The shop will feature hand-crafted garments, handbags, jewelry and scarves from six current Incubator designers-in-residence and three Incubator graduates.
Participating in the pop-up shop will be current Incubator designer Jovan O’Connor, and design partners Melissa Choi and Pia Panaligan, who participated in the previous year’s Incubator program. All three graduated from PhilaU in 2006.
The pop-up shop kicks off with an opening party June 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. at 4347 Main St. in Philadelphia. The locally made fashions then will be available through June 29 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
O’Connor, who is developing her self-named design firm, said she designs for “the young professional woman with a full social calendar.”
Choi and Panaligan, who launched their clothing line Senpai + Kohai in 2012, recently were named to Philadelphia magazine’s list of top eight “Philly Designers to Watch.” They will compete this summer in the Philly Mag Fashion Project to create an exclusive design for the magazine’s September fashion issue, which the public can vote on.
