Barbara Klinkhammer discusses increased job opportunities for PhilaU grads in Philadelphia: Philadelphia Business Journal

“By incorporating sustainability, innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration into a student-centered education, PhilaU offers curricula that meet the demands of a changing marketplace,” Barbara Klinkhammer, executive dean of the College of Architecture and the Built Environment at Philadelphia University, wrote in a column that appeared in The Philadelphia Business Journal on July 3.

Klinkhammer points to Philadelphia Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Director of Commerce Alan Greenberger’s citing of more than $7.5 billion in construction activity concentrated in Center City, University City, and the Navy Yard between 2011 and 2017 as evidence of a construction boom in Philadelphia leading to an uptick in the local job market.

“Sustainability-minded firms fare better than others,” wrote Klinkhammer, indicating a bright future for graduates of the College of Architecture and the Built Environment where each program emphasizes sustainable practices.
