Prints of a cosmetics face chart created by fashion design sophomore Ashlee Bowers will soon be used for customer makeup demonstrations in ULTA Beauty stores.
The international cosmetics brand challenged PhilaU students to give Laura Geller Beauty’s current chart a facelift, so to speak, and Bowers’ illustration was selected from among 10 student submissions.
“Ashlee captured the essence of the brand and met the objectives delivering a beautiful and professional quality illustration,” said Tricia Perri, Laura Geller Beauty design director. “Everyone at LGB is excited to have a valuable educational asset to use in our makeup demonstrations and other creative materials.”
“I am so excited to be recognized by Laura Geller,” Bowers said. “I went into the project as a learning experience and came out with so much more.”
“Ashlee has an incredible talent for drawing fashion,” Lisa Steinberg, fashion design faculty member, who invited students in her fashion illustration and fashion drawing classes to participate in the project. “The illustration went through three rounds of changes, and Ashlee listened to the critiques and patiently created the changes within the company’s deadline.”
Though one winner was chosen, Laura Geller representatives told Steinberg each student submission demonstrated talent, creativity and a unique style and flair for fashion.
Laura Geller Beauty products, found on QVC, online and in retails outlets in the U.S., United Kingdom, Germany and Italy, are focused on making makeup fun, easy and accessible.
