Professor Malhotra’s Research on Commodity Funds Cited in The Wall Street Journal, Yahoo! Finance

Specialty commodity funds fall short on key measures, according to new research co-authored by PhilaU Professor Davinder Malhotra, The Wall Street Journal and Yahoo! Finance reported Jan. 11.

These categories of funds have not been able to consistently create positive net results for their investors over longer time periods, often because of their high expenses, according to the report by finance professor Malhotra, Nydick Family Chair and director of MBA programs, and co-authors Srinidhi Kanuri, University of Southern Mississippi, and Robert McLeod, University of Alabama.

Although many experts recommend a small amount of commodity exposure, the new study may give some fund investors pause, The Wall Street Journal reported.
