Finance Professor Philip Russel Named Dean of Graduate Education

Philip Russel, Ph.D., professor of finance, will assume a new leadership role as dean of graduate education for Philadelphia University, effective July 1, 2016.

In his new role, Russel will chair the Graduate Council, coordinate the academic portion of graduate student orientations, facilitate graduate assistantship assignments and work on new program development and enhancing services to graduate students.

Russel, who will maintain his academic appointment, has been serving as interim academic dean of the School of Business Administration. He will work closely with academic leadership teams to manage the strategic growth of graduate programs throughout the University.

“I would like to thank Dr. Russel for his great work as interim academic dean of the School of Business Administration,” said Provost Matt Dane Baker. “His leadership has been critical in maintaining SBA programs and moving school initiatives forward, and he will be instrumental in our continued commitment to grow increase graduate programs and initiatives in the future.

Russel earned his Ph.D., from the University of Massachusetts, MBA from Morgan State University and BCom, MA from the University of Delhi.
