In a Philadelphia magazine story on the science behind why we love Target, Philadelphia University lecturer David Loranger says Target knows a lot about its customers–and uses that information to meet their needs. “They look at who you are tangibly (how much money you make, your gender, where you live, do you have a family) and psychologically (your hobbies, lifestyle, ethics) and mix their product, price, place and promotion in various combinations that resonate with who you are as a person,” Loranger said.
