Jefferson Community and Trauma Counseling Program Hosts Conference to Address Childhood Trauma: KYW Newsradio

Jefferson’s Community and Trauma Counseling Program this week is hosting the second annual Philadelphia Trauma Training Conference, attracting an international audience of more than 450 health care professionals, educators, community members and others to better address trauma in children, KYW Newsradio reported July 23.

Jeanne Felter, PhD, director of the program, told KYW that when children experience a lot of trauma at a young age, it can have an impact over a lifetime, including health or psychological impacts. “They are devastating to their educational and academic outcomes, often devastating to their social outcomes and their employability,” she added.
