Blackstone LaunchPad will kick off the fall semester with a welcome-back barbecue and entrepreneur pop-up shop on Thursday, Aug. 30. Over 25 students and alumni, as well as outside vendors, will sell their clothing, jewelry, art, photography, magazines, skin care and more on the Gutman Quad from 12-4 p.m. (rain location: Kanbar Performance Space).
“We’re so excited to showcase our entrepreneurs to the University community,” said Abena Nyarko, program manager of Blackstone LaunchPad at Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University).
The event will feature ventures like DiveDesign, Namaste NYC, Made by Malo, AtD Copper Creations, Silently Loud, Sarah Plus Bees, Vault and Vine, Jefferson’s AIGA, Baybs Magazine and Little Fox Tribe.
With events like the pop-up shop, Blackstone LaunchPad—a co-curricular program open to all Jefferson students, faculty, staff and alumni—plans to add more resources for commerce initiatives by entrepreneurs, said Nathan Solomon, director of Blackstone LaunchPad. “There’s so much organically generated creative work driving real revenue for students at Jefferson, and we want to help to advance these efforts.”
