Cannabis Can Impair Driving Ability, Lambert Center Expert Says: NBC News

A new study showing that 14 percent of Washington State drivers with children on board tested positive for THC highlights the fact that many people don’t realize cannabis can impair driving ability, Marilyn Huestis, faculty member in Jefferson’s Lambert Center for the Study of Medicinal Cannabis and Hemp, told NBC News. THC is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.

“The truth is, if everything goes as it’s supposed to go, you can make it home,” Huestis said. “But you can’t respond appropriately and quickly when an unexpected event occurs. You see this over and over again in crash cases.”
